DMC SHRIM holds cooking seminar for kidos

June 12, 2010

As part of its community outreach to give its pre-school children the basic dos and don’ts in the kitchen and ignite their passion for cooking, the DMC School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (SHRIM) held a Kid’s Kitchen Camp at the SHRIM building last week.

Facilitating the three-day event is nationally-recognized chef, John Febb Vidal.

Vidal is a Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management graduate of International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management in Manila. He was invited by DMC SHRIM dean, Atty. Dianne Charlette Concha, to facilitate this event for the children, most of whom are from the DMC Pre-school department.

The kids were taught on the safety rules in the kitchen, the proper way of hand washing, and how to prevent burns and cuts.

Among the recipes taught to the young participants include Cheezee Floppy Dog Ears, Chocolate Overload, Pizza Rolls, Oh! Oatmeal and Chocolate Chip Cookies, Strawberry Shake with Strawberry Snackers, Star Frosted Buns, Kiddie Jambalaya, and Soda Float.
